[edit] Background

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is a quirky Action/Adventure game developed by Square Enix for the Nintendo DS console. The game is another spin-off from the main series of Dragon Quest and is the sequel to Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest for the Game Boy Advance. Rocket Slime tells the story of one Slime's adventure to save his friends from a diabolical band of Platypunk.

[edit] Story

The game takes place in the fictional world of Slimenia, a world as diverse as it's inhabitants. The capital city, Boingburg, is inhabited by exactly 101 Slimes - varying in size, breed, and disposition. Rocket's story begins with him playing out in front of the castle with his sister Bo and two closest friends; Hooly and Swotsy. Shortly after the opening scene concludes, the four of them manage to get their hands (err goop) on a mysterious flute. Immediately after Rockets blows into the flute, a sinister mob of Platypunk (known only as the Plob) invade Boingburg, and begin snatching up the residents one-by-one.

After being tossed into the nearby forest for being "oblong", Rocket stumbles upon the legendary Schleiman Tank - an essential weapon in the battle against the Plob.

[edit] Characters

[edit] Rocket

The Hero of this game. Rocket is the traditional blue Slime, complete with bit ground eyes and a goofy grin. He's the courageous little prince of Boingburg, and won't rest until he's rescued all of his pals.

[edit] Bo

Rocket's younger sister, a nosy pink Slime. She's quick to criticize Rocket's ideas, though is always worrying about him. Upon rescuing her she will offer to help out during tank battles. She can be rescued in Chapter: Sister Trapped In Backwoods.

[edit] Big Daddy AKA "His Royal Wobbliness"

The King of Boingburg, as well as Rocket and Bo's father. He's abducted along with the rest of the town's Slime population during the opening scene. He is found during the Chapter: Your First Adventure.

[edit] Gameplay

Rocket Slime is your typical Action/Adventure game. While there is no grinding for experience or leveling up, your options for combat become more advanced as you progress through the story and collect various upgrades. Puzzles feature reasonably heavily throughout the game and encourage the player to think like a Slime to get things done.

The general controls are nice and simple, with Rocket being controlled either by use of the stylus or just by using the D-pad and the A button to speak to other characters. He can launch himself at enemies by holding A, pointing in the direction he wants to fire and speeding off to knock into them and cause damage.
