Dragon Warrior VII tells the story of a boy, the son of a prominent fisherman, from the small town of Fishbel. At the beginning of the game, the hero finds a mysterious fragment of a map that his father brought home from one of his fishing trips. Further investigation of the map reveal that the small island that the hero lives on is actually one of many, though many of the other continents have been sealed away. The hero's adventure begins when he and his friends decide to explore the sealed continents.

(Arus in the official manga) The son of a prominent fisherman, native to the town of Fishbel located on Estard Island. He has a fondness for adventure, and often explores the locale with his best friend Kiefer.

The Hero is a very well-rounded character, boasting average stat growth. Being one of the strongest fighters in the game, the Hero also has access to a wide variety of healing spells.

Prince of Estard Island, and heir to the throne. Kiefer shows disdain for being of royal blood, a constant worry to his family and royal advisers. An explorer by nature, Kiefer spends most of his time exploring the island of Estard with his best friend the Hero.

Kiefer is your typical Warrior character, harboring high defenses and physical attack power. He has the ability to equip the heaviest armor and weaponry, thus making him easily one of the strongest characters in the game.
